2019 – Thankful in Texas

Amy: When my sister invited us for a Thanksgiving getaway to send my nephew off before his deployment with the Army National Guard, we were excited to join in for the long weekend.

Since my nephew, Jake, was in Texas to prepare for development, we headed to Galveston, Texas to spend time together next to the Gulf of Mexico. The waves and sand were a welcome sight after a snowy autumn in Colorado.

Jon and I flew to Houston on Thanksgiving and explored Galveston the next day, while we anxiously awaited our family. We explored the historic district, checked out the many classic Victorian homes, and walked along the beach.

The Tourville family arrived late in the evening and we spent the next couple of days exploring the area, enjoying wading into the Gulf, and having some local craft beers.

Our final day before leaving brought bright, clear skies. What a perfect way to spend time with our family and say farewell to Jake before he heads off to the Middle East.
