Amy: With the house echoing with emptiness, we packed the final boxes into my old, gold Rav4. We sold Jon’s nicer, newer Xterra and are left with only one large possession: my somewhat banged up Gold Rav. We decided to spend a few weeks in MN with family- after enjoying a fun evening with our good friends, Sarah and Chris. The drive to MN is one we’ve done many times and we opted to roadtrip through the Black Hills. The trip is longer, but the scenery and traffic are superior.
On the way, we saw over one hundred buffalo. They were clearly used to onlookers and came right up to old goldie. We cruised up to see Mt. Rushmore and stopped in some of Jon’s favorite childhood spots. We stopped for the night to rest after the busy weeks of wrapping up work and selling, donating and packing up. In the morning we took a hike around to see the Presidents and enjoy the fragrant pine scent of the Black Hills. It was a perfect stop before heading across South Dakota back to Minnesota. Now for a few weeks of time with family and friends, lots of preparation, and adjusting to our new way of life.
